AICMEU’s HHF Rehabilitation Scheme
Aid Distribution Function at Mumbra
'Aid Distribution Function' under AICMEU’s HHF Rehabilitation Scheme was organized at Zama Zam Hall, Near Darul Falah Masjid, Kausa, Mumbra, Dist:- Thane – 400612 (India) was organized by AICMEU on Monday 16th April 2007.
The programme began at 2.00 pm with recitation of the holy Quran by Mr. Mohamad Hidayatullah Sayed, one of the beneficiaries (Handicaps). Though the Chief Guest Mr. R. B. Shirshat (Social Welfare Office, Thane Zila Parishad) was not present, his P.A. Mr. Riyaz Sayed attended the programme on his behalf. The function was presided over by Dr. Rahmatullah, Chairman AICMEU. Moreover Dr. Sudhir Bhatankar – Deputy Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation, Thane district also attended the function as Guest of Honour. The Human Welfare Organization was the local coordinating NGO for the said function. The officials of Human Welfare Organization were also actively involved in making the function a successful event. Mr. Syed Ali Ashraf (Municipal Counselor of Mumbra) was also present in the function as representative of Human Welfare Organization.
After formal introduction and welcome of participants and guests, Mr. Syed Zahid Ahmad, Asst. Secretary General, AICMEU presented a brief report of the scheme. This report covered the introduction of AICMEU and HHF cooperation to benefit handicaps of India. He also named the beneficiaries along with amount approved for different purposes. After report presentation, Dr. Sudhir Bhatankar started distributing aid / grants to handicaps.
During Aid Distribution function, Two Tricycle, One wheel Chair, One pair clipper and one ear machine were distributed to the handicaps. Two equipment aid beneficiaries were absent to receive their aids. Beside this, cheques were also distributed to 6 handicaps, while other 24 handicaps were told to complete the formalities to get aid / grant for their business enterprises. The amount granted for smaller business enterprise under AICMEU’s HHF Rehabilitation scheme ranges between Rs. 7,000/- to Rs. 50,000/- amount Rs. 5,59,000/- for 30 handicaps rehabilitation. These handicaps preferred to open businesses in following trades -
STD & PCO booth, Xerox, Mobile Repairing, Motor winding, General Store, Fabric & Garments retails, Paan Beedi Shop, Milk Supply, Zari material trade, Tea & coffee shop, onion potato trade, soap & oil trade, taxi & rickshaw driving, and DTP graphic designing etc.
After Aid Distribution, Mr. Riyaz Sayed (P.A. to Social Welfare Officer, Thane Zila Parishad) asked AICMEU to submit application for institutional support from Thane Zila Parishad for handicap's education and training at Thane. he also pointed some govt. schemes related to welfare of handicaps. Around hundred persons attended the programme and appreciated the effort initiated by AICMEU and HHF. After Distribution of aid, Dr. Rahmatullah, Chairman AICMEU also intended to work for the handicaps of Mumbai & Thane, till we do not find any handicap seeking help for establishment or equipments aid. He told that with support of HHF we have aimed to declare Thane as poor handicaps free district.
After presidential address of Dr. Rahmatullah, the function concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Khan Riyazur Rehman, Executive Secretary, AICMEU. After the function, Mr. Syed Ali Ashraf (Municipal Counselor of Mumbra) addressed the media persons about this function.
